We were all raised by Granpa . My family and I grew up by his side . He was our home , our safe place , and the person who took care of us everyday. We knew his voice , his footsteps , and the warmth of having him around But last year, Granpa passed away . Everything changed after that . Without Granpa , we could no longer star in the home we knew . Eventually , my family and i were brought to shelter by one of granpa’s friends , a kind auntie who wanted to make sure we would still be safe . It was a new place , filled with unfamiliar faces and smells , but one thing never changed I have always been the one standing in front of them , watching over them and making sure they are safe . Maybe i look strong , maybe i look a little tough —— but everything i do is because they are my family . Granpa may no longer be here to protect us So now , i will protect them for him . Because no matter where we go , we are still granpa’s family ❤️
